Today while I was driving to work, I received a Daffodil Bouquet from this young beggar who is always on the same spot every morning…
I usually give him a couple of euros, but this morning as he was coming towards me, my side window stayed closed. I tried to make him understand that I had no change. He insisted that I open my window; I told him that I was sorry that I had nothing to hand him today. He was really nice and told me that this time he was the one who wanted to give me something, and that’s when he handed me the bouquet… He told me he wanted to thank me for my kindness every morning…
I was really touched, I mean I never expected this... Some of my friends think it’s stupid to give gypsies money, some people I know think they are thieves… They are probably right, some surely are, but who am I to judge? I do not know their lives but I know mine… A couple of euro given will not stop me from having food on my plate. A kind word will not harm anyone…
Today, I’m really happy because, I made a connection with a total stranger. Almost every morning I give him some change and each time we exchange the same words… I know it’s the same conversation he has with each people who give him a little something, but today it was different, today I broke that wall he has, and I met a very nice man…
They say a gesture can change someone’s life. Today he changed mine. I always thought I was the one doing something nice for someone. But today, I was in need of kindness, and he was the one who showed me compassion… He doesn’t know it, but my day is a bit brighter because of him…
